Huhu Grub Bites
200g halloumi cheese
1 sheet of flaky pastry
20 candy eyes or pieces of black olive
Preheat oven 180˚C if fan-forced, and line a baking/oven tray with baking paper.
Cut the halloumi block into 10 pieces.
Thinly cut the sheet of pastry into 10 thin strips (about 1 -1.5cm thick).
Roll 1 pastry strip around each piece of halloumi and place them onto the baking tray.
Beat an egg and add 1/2 a teaspoon of water. Brush the egg mix onto the pastry.
Pop in the oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
2 cups of rolled oats
2 Tbs cacao powder
1 ripe banana
2 Tbs maple syrup (or honey)
1 Tbs peanut butter*,almond or sesame seed butter
1/2 Tbs coconut oil
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 Tbs dairy free dark choc chips
Candy eyes (or dark choc chips)
Pretzel sticks or toothpicks (for the beak)
2 Tbs melted dark choc
Pop the rolled oats and cacao powder into a food processor. Whizz on high for 2-3 minutes, until it becomes flour-like.
Add the banana, maple syrup, nut butter, coconut oil and vanilla extract, and whizz until it reaches dough like consistency. If it is still too flaky, add small amounts of warm water and combine until it comes together.
Move the mixture into a bowl, and roll the dough into balls.
Press in your candy or choc chip eyes and pretzel stick beaks.
Carefully melt the dark chocolate. Once melted, dip the Kuwi bites into the melted choc and pop onto baking paper to create a base.
Store in the fridge.
